Environmental Radiation Surveillance Report for
2000 - 2002
A report outlining findings of levels of radiation and radioactive
materials found in Georgia's environment during 2000 - 2002.
Since 1976,
the EPD Environmental Radiation Program has operated extensive radiation
monitoring networks at nine facilities in or bordering Georgia. Program staff
collect samples of environmental media near nuclear facilities in and
surrounding Georgia, and perform laboratory analyses on these samples to
determines if radioactive materials are being released into the environment in
quantities sufficient to adversely affect the health and safety of the citizens
of Georgia. This report provides results from the environmental radiation
monitoring performed by the Environmental Radiation Program during calendar
years 2000, 2001 and 2002.
