Welcome from EPD Director Dr. Carol Couch

Welcome to the Web site of the Environmental Protection Division (EPD) of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The Web site has been designed to provide easy-to-find information about our efforts to protect and manage Georgia's air, water and land resources for its estimated 9.5 million citizens.

I encourage you to read the EPD mission, vision, and guiding principles, which serve as a foundation for our work to address the various environmental issues in this rapidly growing state. These issues range from the quality of the air in metropolitan areas, to the impact of population growth on the supply of fresh water, to the quality of the water in Georgia's many lakes and streams.

The EPD Web site is intended to serve Georgia's diverse population with information on a variety of topics. While there is technical guidance and permitting information provided for the state's regulated businesses and industries, citizens also will find information on auto emissions testing and outdoor water use schedules to help them better understand the importance of environmental stewardship.

You can search our site by using the search link at the bottom of the home page, or you can use the menus to find the topics of interest to you.

We hope you find the information in this Web site to be helpful and please know that we will continue to work to improve this important communications tool. Thank you for your interest in Georgia's environment.
